FAQ

What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

"DPC is an innovative healthcare model where physicians partner with their patients to provide primary care services under a flat, periodic membership fee. By moving outside of the administrative burdens of the traditional insurance-based billing system, DPC practices can provide a wide spectrum of care in a transparent, affordable manner. DPC practices are able to do this while offering patients a higher level of service, communication, and relationship, than what is often found in our dysfunctional healthcare system.

Philosophically, the model is intended to restore the patient-physician relationship without the intrusion of insurance companies.”

Do you take Medicare?

At this time, we cannot take any patients currently enrolled in any Medicare plans. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Will you take my insurance?

No. The beauty of the DPC model is that we operate outside the typical insurance based system. Because we don't have to answer to, or jump through the hoops of, high powered insurance corporations, we can give you the best possible individualized care at a more affordable rate.

What if I am hospitalized or need a specialist?

While our team at VMH strives to administer to most of your primary health care needs, and we can provide a wide range of minor urgent care services, we recognize that there will be times when your medical needs will exceed our training and will require a specialist. As long time members of the Upstate medical community, we are connected to a wide range of specialists and can easily guide your medical journey if your path takes you outside our realm of expertise.

Should I even have insurance?

Yes. Membership in a DPC is intended to take care of all your basic primary health care needs. We recommend an insurance plan with a high deductible and a low premium for unexpected catastrophic emergencies, specialist care, or surgeries.

I don't go to the doctor much. Can I benefit from VMH?

At VitalMed Health, we believe in preventative health. The majority of chronic disease (heart disease, diabetes, etc.) are reversible if caught early. Our goal at VMH is to really get to know you and understand your health goals through personal attention and ongoing communication. Establishing a good relationship with your provider is a key step to preventing larger problems. Plus, when a sudden illness or infection occurs, we can see you right away or even handle it virtually or over the phone. That's what having a regular, ongoing relationship with your provider can do for you. You can have the peace of mind knowing that someone is always in your corner and KNOWS YOU.

Your health. Our priority.
